The Beautiful Owl Quilt At Last

I can't believe that it's been since March that I've posted, but I am very excited to say we finally have Soph's quilt completed!

Mom and I started this over a year ago on our girls' weekend away, and we somehow didn't get it done before Soph was born..."too busy". HA!  I don't know how I thought I was busy before I had a baby.

Anyhoo, we made the quilt top, and the actual quilting (sewing the layers together with those beautiful swirly stitches) was done by a local artist, Dawn Redick. I am so, so happy with it! It's the second most beautiful thing I've ever made!

(the first most beautiful thing I've ever made)

The back is a flannel owl-ey print that I love, and we used it for the binding as well

This year there were three girls at girls' weekend away...which turned into girls' one night away after a particularly rough night, in Holland, MI.  As my mom put it, "it's important to try and still do these things, and not be intimidated by them. And it's important to know when to bail!"
