Blue and White Pussy Bow Blouse

I am so thrilled with how Salme's Pussy Bow Blouse turned out!  This fabric is from Jo-Anns, and I bought it with a filmy blouse in mind that so matched this pattern, it turned out exactly like the picture in my head.

I've never worked with such a slippery fabric before, and I think it was great practice for the silk I'm planning for the bridesmaid's dress I continue to procrastinate on. I did feel quite nervous throughout the sewing process, as I felt like I only had one shot.  There was going to be no going back and unpicking, so all seams were final! Because of that, the slightly-too-tight armholes are something I'm just going to have to live with, but otherwise I think the fit is divine!

I used french seams for the first time and I'm thrilled with how they finish and protect all the edges. The first time I wore this I didn't get so much as a comment...meaning my friend couldn't even tell I made it! I take a weird secret pleasure in this...

I'd also like to give a little shout-out to their customer service.  The downloadable pattern included instructions for drafting your own collar/bow, and I found them really confusing and frustrating. I can't stand to have my precious little stollen bits of sewing time end in tears, and I wrote Salme a somewhat upset letter. Elisa, the owner, wrote back almost immediately with a pdf of the collar pattern drafted just for me!

And because Jon is such a loving and patient photographer, I give you...two outfits!
