Christmas Card Books

Friends, you have not lost your minds: yes it is August and yes, we're going to talk about Christmas cards! Truly this is relevant so bear with me...

I love Christmas cards: I love sending them, receiving them, leaving them up on my fridge until June...but then I don't love that I have nowhere to save them, and I definitely don't love the thought of tossing these little snapshots in time!

I came across little stashes of Christmas cards all over the place while KonMarie'ing (see? relevant!) and I knew it was time to make a home for them.  I decided on books, one for each year, that I can put on display in a big bowl every December.

This was super simple, obvs.  I used 1" book rings and a standard hole punch.  The covers are cardstock stamped with the year.  Now that I have this system I might add to them with pictures and momentos from the holiday season, building the books throughout the months of November and December...but for now they are really just cards stuck into a book, incredibly imperfect, and I'm diggin them!

Friends, do you save Christmas cards??

  1. I love, love, love this idea, Elise! I am a Christmas card saver from way back. I put the photos in my annual scrapbooks (which I haven't made since 2005 because I've been working on the kids' school and sports books) but I have stacks of my favorite cards still to deal with. Now I know what to do with them!

    1. Elise, glad I'm not the only one hideously behind on scrapbooking!! What is it about scrapbooking that takes so darn long? This is a quick project though, and I bet yours will be super cute--send me a pic if you do this!
